persistence and staying power are important virtues for a student or PhD (though I'm not sure if you are one...)
Industry
Those are very important virtues for anyone! why a student or PhD?!
economic system
well you work and work and don't see the end, only more work and one has often to push or motivate oneself...for employees it's the same (at least sometimes) I guess, but they're normally better paid and have a boss (or sales figures) that goad them.....
feudalism
hey guys...more wasting of time? ...
absolutism
sure...what else? Where's my beer?
Karl Marx
Thats true Casey,
@ hob- life of a PhD can be sometimes quite stressful, even after doing so much of work, u still feel u're heading nowhere..Industry can be safe, but how safe, depends on people's perceptions and the economy..end of story, both have their own drawbacks, PhD's live a dog's life today expecting a bright tomorrow and people in industry live a 'not so bad' life today expecting the dog's life to come any day!
