Hey LiL, what about the tsunami scare in japan, a few days back???
hearing aid
Ah yeah, a bit OTT here, some of the harbours were flooded in Hokkaido, the water rose about 1m 30 at the most though. The TV went a bit overboard, but I suppose better safe than sorry. Must have been awful in Chile though- I haven't experience a big shake here...touch wood
dumb
yup we did, Div and thanks....we're quite happy with our athletes performance- millions of our tax dollars in motion......and Lost-san...be careful with the tsunami...
ok, need to take my much needed royal sleep after all the royal sleepless nights and hang-overs..oyasuminasai minna-san...

G'night YRH, you must keep up your beauty regime
I think I"m pretty safe from tsunamis here on the 7th floor 20miles from the sea, but you never know......
numb
@Casy oyasumi nasai!
@LiL............i have experienced many such, although not of the magnitude 8...........we have had till 6.8-7.3...............n its scary............its hard time for Chileans now...........sad.....
frostbite
7.3! wow that must have been pretty scary, I've only been up to 6.4, but it was a distant one so mostly just the gentle swaying....disconcerting though. Only once did we have some things fall in the lab and my chair rolled away from the desk. At least Chile is experienced in these earthquakes so better prepared and able to cope, more than Haiti, but still pretty devastating-especially in the small costal villages
mite
its a horrrifying experience, LiL.........we had that big one in 2001 in Gujarat............it was a national holiday (our Republic Day) n most ppl were sleeping when the earthquake struck early morning.........it was devastating..........n photos that were splashed across the media were heart-wrenching............
my mom was in the kitchen n she could actually hear the huge rumbling noises...........since we are in Delhi, effect wasnt that great.........
its unimaginable, how in a matter of seconds, e'thing can just finish off............life is so unpredictable!
asthma allergen
Ugh! I can't really imagine, but I think I would be terrified, I get twitchy about the tremors here sometimes, especially if I'm woken up by them (I live on the 8th floor). I"ve not heard noises, aside from the gentle rattle of objects..
Seeing the images is always horrifying, but I think to experience it must be on another level. I'm very grateful that the building regulations are strict here- It seemed to make a big difference in Chile.
pollen grains
yeah, strict building regulations are a must............our government has woken up late to that...........but, even then, theres a huge difference in the implementation and execution of laws n rules in India as compared to Japan....
hayfever
Oh for sure, though I think some of the older buildings here aren't all that safe sometime- or they don't look like it anyway! And I suppose it depends on the frequency of tremors, if its rare then people forgot or don't think its so important, or don't want to spend the money...
