abbreviations i can't understand - in this forum (Apr/12/2007 )

hi all,

through reading, i find some abbreviations i can't understand ..maybe some members encounter the same thing here especially those with foreign languages like me..for instance, "bet", "PS" and others i can't remember now unsure.gif

PS (or P.S.) means "post scriptum" (latin), i.e, text coming to late in the mind of the author to fit in the main text. Or a later comment, question not directly related to the text.
bet I don't know haven't seen so far

i.e. - id est. That means 'that is', 'that is to say', 'in other words'、etc.

etc. - et ceterum - also latin, meaning "and other things like that"

et al. - et alii (and others) - the abbreviation is only allowed in written language ... but everybody keeps saying in his/her presentations: As you can see on this slide, the study by Knuffelpterich et al has shown [...]
