good book on science - something to read like a novel and get 'inspired' (May/08/2009 )

Hey all,
Does anybody know a book (about biological science preferably) which can be read like a novel? Like a life story of a scientist, or some random ramblings of a scientist wondering about nature, or anything which one can read and get inspired/thrilled. A good example would be "the Beautiful mind", which came as a movie later.
Thanks!

Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond - not strictly about biology, but a good read anyway.
The Future Eaters by Tim Flannery (actually any of his ones are excellent reads)

You did not generalized you question. Science is a very waste subject to cover in a single book. How ever you need to question properly for a specific subject you want.
