Gel Electrophoresis DNA base pairs size - (Oct/01/2005 )

Hi,

Typically if you use DNAse I to cut a sample of thymus calf DNA, what base pairs size would you expect to see on your gel?
I got about 14 000 and I'd like to compare it with "verified" results.

Thanks

If I remember correctly we were supposed to get something between 200 and 300 base pairs.
We used a NEB marker and we ended up with 14 000 base pairs.

However the sample still contained proteins and RNA, it had not been treated with proteases nor RNAse, could these two account for such a big difference?
