Staining SDS-PAGE prior to transfer - (Sep/15/2005 )

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has a method they use to stain the GEL prior to transfering to membrane for western blot. I do not want to stain the membrane after transfer and prior to antibody detection because I use a color reaction to detect bands with WB not ECL and the stained membrane would create a problem.
Has anyone tried Pierce's E-Zinc Reversible Stain?
Thanks

There is a reversible Copper stain, but is much less sensitive than Coomassie on a gel. Anyway, you can try to stain your membrane after transfer with Ponceu S. This membrane staining can be washed off with water, and eventually your membrane will be completly white again.
