one gene, 2 variants - which one is relevant? (Aug/22/2005 )

hello everyone

i don't know if anyone is able to help with this problem but i wasted my last 3 weeks of work for my diploma thesis on this.

i am trying to amplify and later on express tumor antigens.
in this paricular case CA125.

my problem now is i found one variant here on chromosome 17 with very little publications and another one here with a lot of publications but only mRNA.

what i would need to know now is which one of them is the one relevant for tumor screening and immunogenicity?

thx for any help, ideas or clues

best regards

I think the second one, MUC16 is CA125 because CA125 is its alias name. While the first one NBR1 has nothing to do with CA15. For the purpose of cloning into expression vector, mRNA sequence is enough. If you want to get the genomic sequence click this link
