DNA extraction from dried urine sample - (Aug/11/2005 )

Hi All,

I am conducting a lit search on this topic, but have had little success. Is it possible to extract DNA (either ystr, str or mito) from dried urine (a ten year old sample)? I imagine it must be, but I am having problems locating the proper methodology. Thanks for any help.

This is probably a dumb question, but what cells were you hoping to extract the DNA from? Since urine is typically of an acidic pH, I think you may have some trouble with this.

There would be DNA in it if the sample came from a person with a urinary tract infection/bladder infection.

Still... ewwww.
