how to apply molecular weight marker on 2D gels? - application marker for 2D (Aug/09/2005 )

hi,
I am having great trouble in applying the molecular weight marker for the second dimension of the 2D gel. Up to now I soak some tissue paper with the marker and place it in one corner, I leave some distance between the IPG strip and the tissue, and seal the whole thing off with agarose. However, in this way the marker diffuses throughout the whole gel. Is anyone aware of a method that keeps the marker on its place?
thanks,
front.

I have had such a problem when the distance between my IPG strip and whatman paper had least distance as my glass plates were small. (However it didnt diffuse the whole gel it diffused arond a cm in the area below stripgel) However when I increased the distance say 0.4-0.5 cm there was a good seperation. This could also be because of leaking of the marker. As you have mentioned "tissue paper" dont use tissue paper, use whatman paper which is little thick so that it stays straight. and seal with agarose and run as soon as possible

Hope it helps
