Sodium Azide Removal - (Nov/13/2001 )

I'm needing to biotinylate two samples of 1mg/ml of antibodies for labeling. But my protocol indicates that the antibodies need to be free from any sodium azide to biotinylate.

Two things, why would a low concentration of sodium azide (0.1%) affect biotinylation. And do any of you know where I can get a protocol for the removal of sodium azide from moniclonal antibody samples?

ps. I'm a Chemical engineer so it'd be best if the protocol was as detailed/cookbook as possible.

thanks

Ever heard of dialysis.

Hellodialysis may take too long and contamintion may destroy your antibody!A faster procedure to remove sodium azide will be desalting by means of PD10 columns from Amersham pharmacia Biotech. they provide a good protocol also.Hope I could help you

Dialyze the #### thing. As for the protocol, stick it in a bag.
