RNA isolation - question about kits (Aug/04/2005 )

Dear All,

Does anyone can recommand a kit for microbial RNA isolation. I am an absolute greenhorn in terms of working with RNA... I need the RNA for RT-PCR.

I thought the Ambion kit might be good. But then I saw that one is supposed to by such a vortex adapter as well (for a 10min horizontal vortexing step). Our vortexer are ancient and I don't believe any adapter would fit onto it. Does anyone know if there is any way to use the Ambion kit even without buying that adapter?

Best,
Freiberger

I have been isolating Microbial RNA with ISOGEN-LS from Gene Japan, the results are very good, why not try it .
Good luck

There is a new supplier whose kits are cheaper and work well.
