can i freeze cell lysates for western blotting? - (May/03/2005 )

Hi everyone,

I'm going to sonicate cell suspensions and use the lysate in western blots. the question is, can I freeze the lysates to use at a later date?

I always store protein extracts at -20°C.

I use my extracts for several month and never had problems but I had one which was about 2years old and some proteins precipitated.
