Whatman Filter Paper - Elution of plasmid DNA (Apr/19/2005 )

I wish to transform JM109 cells with plasmid DNA sent to me on Whatman filter paper. Can anyone provide the exact protocol to elute the plasmid DNA form the filter paper (i.e. volumes, incubation time/temps, centifugation? etc.)?

It's a very precious sample and I don't want to risk losing it.

normally the person who send you the plasmid would have tell you how many µg are on the whatmanj. But usually i rehydrate about 5µg with 50µl of sterile ddH2O and do an electroporation with 10µl of prep. It works fine in my hand.
