linear DNA can be transformed into Ecoli? - (Mar/22/2005 )

I am confused about this. linear DNa can not be transformed into E.coli, right?

Surely it can, some of them can integrated into genomic DNA to present the host cell a character of the plasmid, such as anti-anitibiotic activity.

The nature of the DNA does not affect transformation. For the DNA to be maintained in the cell, it should have a origin of replication to ensure autonomous duplication or should bear a site to permit recombination with the host DNA. Otherwise, the DNA might be lost from the cell druing replication.
