Stability of DNA at 4 degrees? - (Dec/14/2004 )

Just a simple question huh.gif - what is the stability of extracted DNA at 4 degrees?

Is it better to keep at -20 when you are using it every day? I wanted to avoid numerous freeze/thaw cycles.

Or is it fine in the fridge for a week or two?

In general, DNA can be stored at 4 °C, either in buffer or water... But this depends on your DNA. E.g., some viral DNA is not stable in the fridge.

I use genomic DNA over weeks, even several month (4 °C: pcr positve control). Only pcr and sequencing products are stored at -20°C when it takes more than one day to proceed with sequencing analysis.
