Raising monoclonal antibodies - Monoclonal antibodies raised against similar sequence Antigens in mice (Jan/10/2009 )

I want to raise antibody against an antigen which shares 73% sequence similarity with mouse antigen sequence. will i be able to raise Monoclonal antibodies by immunizing recombinant antigen ( molecular weight - 14kda) at a concentration of 50ug with the adjuvant?
Please kindly respond
thanks.

Hi,
in my experience it is possible, I did raise monoclonal antibodies to 2 parasitic proteins that share ~ 70% identity with the mouse one. I even managed to get polyclonal sera that did not cross-react with the mouse protein. happy.gif
Just make sure you screen your clones carefully, and test for cross-reactivity between the homologues.

Good luck!
