Lymphoprep or Ficoll - (Jan/08/2009 )

Hello.
I am planning to isolate PBMC from peripheral blood. I found that isolation can be done either by Lymphoprep or Ficoll-Paque.
How these products differ?

I'm not entirely sure of the chemistry, but it has been documented that using Ficoll yields an enriched number of BMCs and also more CD45 + /CD34+ and CD45 + /CD133+ cells as compared to LymphoPrep (Dawn and Bolli, 2007)
I guess it would depend on what cell markers you are interested in.
I've used Ficoll to isolate PBMC and the procedure is very simple and the results are reproducible.
