Size of protein - (Dec/05/2008 )

Dear all,

Is there any internet database or other sources in which I can find the size of the protein (normal, common size in kDa) and their possible interaction with other protein easily? Sometimes it is difficult to find in journals and from the antibody providing companies (they are not providing the information at all!).

Thanks in advance

I don't know of any database, but the general rule is 1kb is roughly equal to 37kDa. That will give you a pretty good idea of where you protein should run on a gel.

Thanks Bearer for the link, it is really useful.

Is the 'kb' jlolsen mentioned the coding sequence of the protein?? Can i estimate it by looking at the number of a.a it got?
