How to stop an enzimatic reaction - (Nov/21/2008 )

Hi everyone,

I would like to know how to stop an enzymatic reaction if i’m measuring the activity at 298 nm.
Acetone is widely used but it absorbs at this wavelength.
Can I boil the solution? This won’t mask the absorbance at this wavelength?
What options do I have?
Thanks in advance.

Can you purify the sample maybe with a column purification kit. That would get rid of the enzyme. You might also use NaOH I think

we would kill reactions with tca, incubate on ice, then spin and process.
