band extraction from sds page - (Nov/09/2008 )

Hi,

I'm extracting total protein and than run it on sds-page, than i use silver-stain (as i have low amount of protein).
i was wondering if i can somehow extract a certain band from the sds-page and send it to identification?

Yes, you can cut out your band with your protein of interest and send it to ms-analysis, but the silver stain has to be compatible with it. Check your staining method with your MS-Lab, if your current is not good, they will tell you which staining to use best.
