Controls - (Nov/02/2008 )

How do I chose my controls in immunostaining if I have new Antibody?

-Nadine.-

If you have a mouse anti-xxx IgG, then your control will be mouse IgG that do not stain the sample.

Hope this may help.

Should have a positive control, too. For the above example, a mouse-anti-something that you known work for IF with your cell line. If you know the supposed localization of the protein, you may want to find some markers for that organelle and see if you have same pattern of staining, or co-localization, but that is optimal, not necessary
