How to reuse DNA purification columns? - (Oct/27/2008 )

Hi, I am new in here.. I have just been doing research for a month. I know that DNA columns can be reuse for several times. I don't see the people in my lab reuse them, but I wanna try to do that. The columns that I am using in the lab is Qiagen QIAquick Gel Extraction Kit columns. So how do you guys treat the column before you reuse them?? Thanks!

Hi Travis

Often,I wash the column with DDH2O(PH 8.0) twice.then it can be reused. It works well in my lab.

Hope this can help

If you want to reuse the column for the same DNA, just considered the used column as new; further treatment is not necessary. Or, you can wash it as described by stone757.
If you want to reuse the column for DNA that is differ from the previous purified DNA fragment, please see http://www.protocol-online.org/forums/inde...showtopic=24317. It is the author who developed the method post it on this forum.

Cool! Thanks guys... I am only dealing with 1 promoter DNA only, so I think the simple washing column with ddh20 will do the job. If I move on later to another set of gene, I will follow the manual provided. Thanks!
