purging with inert gas? - (Oct/21/2008 )

Hi,

A product sheet tells me: "A stock solution may be made by dissolving in an organic solvent purged in inert gas."

How do I do this?

What you need is a manipulation chamber and a supply of inert gas (usually argon or helium). Place sample and solvent in the chamber, purge the chamber with inert gas, add sample to solvent and close bottle/container, open manipulation chamber and you now have your dissolved compound.

The easiest way to do this is talk to the local chemistry department and see what they have.
