Arg-F lac E. coli - (Oct/09/2008 )

does anyone know the exact mutation location in Arg-F-lacZYA mutant of E. coli such as DH5a? i want to know the nature of the mutation done. Im wondering if the lacI gene is still intact in those strains? Thank you very much

Probably not. Someone, somewhere may have sequenced that region, but if they have, it has not been reported. Do the world a favor, and PCR that region of DH5a, sequence it, and then deposit it in Genbank. The strain pre-dates routine sequeincing.
