Real Time PCR Efficiency - (Oct/02/2008 )

I am optimizing a homebrew Real Time PCR protocol (duplex) on a ABI7500 here in our lab and was wondering if anyone knows how to figure out (calculate) the efficiency?

Thank You,

Fred

take a look here, maybe it can help....

Thanks for the recommeded website. Are you familiar with a program called RT miner which also analyzes efficiency?

I do not know it. I got through the website once I was looking for good explanation on quantitation of gene expression. At present, we are trying the software of our real-time machine, the Rotorgene, by Corbett, which calculates automatically the efficiency of each amplification. Of course it should be compared with the serial dilution calculation to be sure it is not too far from the one calculated by means of "classic" methods. What I learnt is that still there is an open debate on this issue.
