calcium in PBS - how much? - (Sep/30/2008 )

we like to add calcium to PBS to prevent detaching of fixed cells; we plan to filter the precipitate;

how much calcium (chlorid) do you add? adding calcium phosphate is hopeless, isnĀ“t it?

We buy the 10x DPBS (14080) with calcium and magnesium, from invitrogen for immunostaining to sprevent cells from detaching.

CaCl2 (invitrogen website) - Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) (anhyd.) Mw-111 conc.-1000mg/L
MgCL2- Magnesium Chloride (MgCl2-6H2O) Mw- 203, conc.- 1000mg/L

thanks scolix, I searched for it; the D stands for Dulbecco to my surprise; I thought of a more inofficial way to treat PBS with Ca2+ and Mg2+
