what cells to use for expression of pGEX3? - (Sep/29/2008 )

this is really stupid, but what bacterial strain do you use for expression of a GST-tagged construct in the pGEX3 vector system?

i was thinking of BL21DE3 cells, but i thought that the pGEX3 had a Tac promoter instead of T7? not sure if that makes a difference.

also, recommendations for where (vendor-wise) to obtain these cells are most welcome.

I had the same question before and I found the answer!
DE3 strain has T7 promotor as well as bacterial tac promotor. you can use it for expretion of your protein but it has aditional fiture. To be honest because I wasnt sure what going happen with this additional fiture I chose the BL21 but I think DE3 is fine too.
