Linear vs Nonlinear IPG Strip in IEF - (Sep/09/2008 )

Hi, I am new to proteomics and I am wondering what is the differences between a linear and nonlinear IPG strip to be used in IEF.

I would like to also know the purpose of rehydration after the removal of nonprotein impurities in the sample solution (e.g. by cleaning up kit) priot to IEF.

Many thx!

if you take f.i. a non-linear pH3-10, the middle pH range (~pH5-7) is less narrow separated than in linear strips; since there are many polypeptides in this middle pI range, a non-linear range is to recommend, especially if you start
