transcriptome? - (Sep/05/2008 )

Can one include miRNA when considering the transcriptome or is it only restricted to mRNAs??

-Amritha Nair-

i´ve never heard of any transcriptome including miRNAs, do you actually have a method to do that?

I guess high throughput sequencing could look at everything. But I'm guessing that you mean the definition of transcriptome? I would say that miRNAs are included in the transcriptome. If you want to talk about miRNAs only, you can use the term microRNAome or miRNAome.

-miRNA man-

ok, if you´re only refering to the transcriptome, then miRNAs would be included as well, they are being transcribed, and all the other non-coding RNA should be included too
