calculating units and concentrations - (Aug/23/2008 )

hi
can someone pleae tell me how to know the amount of Mgcl in microlitre that is equal to 2 mM taken from 25 mM Mgcl to do pCR volume of 50 ul
and how its calculated
thanks

[ its looks a very basic calculation.
x ul of Mgcl2 X 25mM = 50 ul X 2mM
x = (50X2)/ 25
= 4 ul .

again i say it a basic calculation.
you have stock concentration, final concentration you need and final volume of the reaction. you want to know the volume of stock needed to make your final solution.
the formula is

Strength of 1 X Volume of 1 = Strength of 2 X Volume of 2
(stock) X ???? = (final conc) X (final volume)

You can solve by this equation.

thanks again
i know this seems like a strange a nd dump question but its very important to me
so thank u again rolleyes.gif

Strength of 1 X Volume of 1 = Strength of 2 X Volume of 2

Njoy:)
