where is the best place to perform the RNA extraction work and the relevant? - (Aug/16/2008 )

I have never done the RNA work before. Currently there is limited space in our lab and I want to know it is acceptable to conduct RNA extraction and the relevant work just on the bench? mellow.gif
Or do I need to perform them in a fumehood?
And is there anything else I have to pay attention to carefully? Thanks a lot!
Besides, I know I have to use RNase free solvents and consumables as much as possible. For those non-disposable consumables, the right way to get rid of RNase is autoclavation and baking them in a drying oven at 150 degrees for at least 4 hours, is that correct? I appreciate any comments and suggestions! tongue.gif
