About preparing solution for protein biochemistry - (Aug/11/2008 )

My question may sounds a bit stupid tongue.gif

Is is NOT necessary to autoclave solution for protein biochemical experiment?? eg. lysis buffer for bacterial proteins, phosphrylation reaction buffer....etc...

I haven't worked on protein experiments before so like to make sure...

nice day

No need to autoclave anything. Some solutions could grow bugs upon long term storage though, so if you haven't used it for a long time, look in the bottle before using biggrin.gif

For the most part, no, but I do sterilize some of my buffers, before adding say Triton-X. You can check if the components of your solution are stable at high temperatures.
