Can we measure gene expression with standard PCR? - (Jul/30/2008 )

I am doing research about FGF2 expression in skin mous, but we dont have Real time PCR. Anyone can help me how to measure gene expression with standard PCR?

The old way with competitive pcr or semi-quantitative pcr by gel electrophoresis after every 5th (or 2nd) cycle - but this is much more work and costs than real time pcr.
try to find another group with a machine or a collaboration.
nowadays almost every bigger institute has a machine where you can get some time to use the instrument or they almost give out old machines for (almost) free when purchasing a newer one...
