HEK293 for Adenovirus propagation - 293T, QB1 what's the difference? (Jul/11/2008 )

Hello fellows,

I've seen that people use HEK293T or HEK293 QB1 to propagate adenoviral vectors.
are those cell lines the same or is there any difference between them?

Thanks!!

For the purposes of adenoviral propagation, they are the same. QB1 cells are just a slight variant from some QBiogene, and the 293T cells contain part of SV40 T-antigen, that allows plasmids containing an SV40 promoter to be efficiently replicated.
