RNA pellet can't dissolve in ethanol - (Jul/06/2008 )

I did RNA purification with Trizol reagen. after pellet RNA occur, it cannot be dissolve by adding ethanol 75% although by vortexing 10 minutes. what's wrong with it?
I decide to continue until purify quantitation with spectro. The ratio result at 260/280=1,269. What should I do? sad.gif

nothing, thats exactly how it should be. did you read the trizol protocol? you use the EtOH for washing the pellet not for dissolving it.

how did you continue?

Thanks Ned Land, That's right, ethanol for washing pellet, I read that. Is that right the pellet still visible like white piece during and after washing by ethanol through vortexing?because I've not found this explanation in protocol.

RNA will not dissolve in ethanol.
If you wash pellet with ethanol, just brief vortex it till the pellet detach from the tube. Then should be OK.
You won't see the pellet "dissolve" in the ethanol.
