half life time of GFP? - (Jul/02/2008 )

Hello. The GFP protein has been stored in-20 C for 2.5 years. Is it still okay?
and when I test the fluorescence, it kept decreased within 8hrs. What might be the problem?
GFP is in 10mM PBS, 140mM NaCl.
When I test the fluorescence, I incubated it at room temperature. What is the half life time of GFP at this condition

Proteins should be kept at -80C. The protein will still degrade even it is stored at -20C. I don't know its half-life under room temperature. But when I stored my bacteria expressing GFP at 4C, the cells appear to be green for at least two weeks, so I think it is stable when you perform your assay at room temperature. BTW, what is your purpose for using GFP?
