making INV110 competent cells - (Jul/02/2008 )

Hi,

I tried to make INV chemically competent cells by using ribidium chloride method and I do not have any clolonies after pUC transformation. Has anybody ever made the competent cells instead of buyong from Invitrogen?
Actually it is indicated on one shot product catalog that efficiency is low ( 1.106). It might be very difficult to get the same efficieny when you try to make yourself then buying. Any experience will be appriciated.

We routinely make chemically competent TOP10 cells with efficiencies similar to those bought from Invitrogen. See here:

I don't know, but would guess, that a similar approach would work for your cells.
