growth time of bacteria after transform - (Jun/30/2008 )

hello

i'v inserted a gene fragment (1428bp) into EGFPC1 plasmid that is a transcription factor of mouse . when i transformed it into 2 kinds of bacterium , their growth time was changed from 18h to 48h. ohmy.gif

now, my concern is that why such thing happened.

Thanks very much

If you can figure that our, you can write a separate paper! It is interesting. See if this factor is an ancient conserved one (to prokaryotes-unlikely, but..), if there is any domain that has some relevant activities etc. See if this is same with yeast replication/growth and mammalian cell line rep/growth times. And you have a great study on your hands!

Otherwise, use that additional 30 hours to check out bars in your area. laugh.gif

Toxic gene maybe?
