E.coli strain resistant to eco47IR? - (Jun/24/2008 )

Hi all!

I was wondering whether there is an E.coli strain which is resistant to the eco47IR product.
I would like to propagate a vector containing this gene.
Does anyone have information on this?

Thanks in advance!

Matthias

Well, the E. coli strain from which it was isolated would be resistant, as it has the cognate methyltransferase. See Stankevicius K, Povilionis P, Lubys A, Menkevicius S, and Janulaitis A. 1995. Cloning and characterization of the unusual restriction-modification system comprising two restriction endonucleases and one methyltransferase. Gene 157:49-53. (PubMed link)
