primer design - (Jun/24/2008 )

i want to design primer for thiosulfate reductase in desulfovibrio. i dont get any nucleotide sequence or protein sequence for that. in this situation how to design primer for that?

Hallo, this is little bit hard to design primers, but if this enzyme is member of any enzyme family or other words is conservative, you can use related organism analog with known sequence and generete primers from this.
or if you have antibodies you can reach protein and you are in game called functional cloning
good luck

yes, you can get the corresponding DNA sequences of other organisms from GenBank and do alignment-based primer (consensus primers) design.

here is an alignment-based primer design program
