avidin or anti-biotin - which is better? - (Jun/05/2008 )

Hi there

I'm looking for some opinions about whether to use avidin or anti-biotin in my western.

I am starting with a biotin-labelled primary antibody and am trying to decide whether to detect it with avidin or anti-biotin. Does anyone have any opinion about which will give the strongest/ most specific signal?

I have never used anti-biotin, but I have had excellent luck with streptavidin conjugated to HRP as a secondary for westerns. pierce has some great kits that are pretty cheap and work very well
