Tris that smells like TEMED - (May/29/2008 )

Has anybody had any problems with recently purchased Tris? Yesterday I purchased new Tris base from our stock room. It had a strong odor very similar to TEMED. I exchanged it for Tris from another supplier. I noticed a faint odor like TEMED with the new Tris, but thought I was just being paranoid. However, when I weighed out 242g and put it in about 700ml of water, the solution was very yellowish. Other experienced people agreed with me that the odor of the Tris powder, and color of the Tris solution were not characteristic of Tris. Neither supplier has received any complaints about the Tris.

why don't you inform the supplier? ask them to come, complaint and let them smell the solution.
If anything wrong, I'm sure they are willing to replace.
