protein normalizer (equal protein loading) - (May/29/2008 )

Hello all,

the drug we use reduces total protein in my cells (several plasma cell lines). Although, it reduces defferent house keeping genes (as GAPDH, b-actin and a-tubulin). Do you know/use other proteins/methods for assuring equal protein loading? (of course I load equal protein ammount (BCA), but I have to show it somehow besides that).

Hi,

Normally, if your drug reduces total protein content, it won't change the relative abundance of the housekeeping genes. If you load 50 ug of proteins, you should have the same amount of GAPDH, actin of tubulin as in the non-treated.

I would like to correct my question: by total protein I ment totals- vs phospho- proteins and not total protein content.
