Are there any methods to replace silver staining? - (May/17/2008 )

As usually use in lab, the variation of PCR products are detecting by the 6% denaturing polyacrylamid gels and visualized by silver staining.

Does any know about replacement methods to detect PCR products in case silver staining does not apply?.

Does 3.5% agarose in submarine electrophoresis can be used instead of silver staining?. Does it need special agarose or normal one?.

Any suggestions are welcome!

you can stain polyacrylamide with ethidium bromide or the sybr stains.
