Enzyme Unit - (May/14/2008 )

Hi, If I'm using mushroom tyrosinase (25KU), lyophilized powder form (Sigma), the enzyme activity is ≥1000 units/mg solid, how to prepare different concentration of mushroom tyrosinase in unit U/ml? I want to prepare into 25, 50, 75, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 U/ml.

Thanks.

If you dissolve 1mg in 1ml that would be >/1000U/ml. Then, for example, if you dilute 1:10, you would have >/100U/ml smile.gif

Then what does 25KU means here?

25 000 U?

-Clare-

likely, but it must be 25kU if k stands for kilo;

beware that U are no SI unit and not standardized; each company which provides enzymes have their own definition what 1 U stands for!

CHeck out some of these search results for protocols using mushroom tyrosinase, may be you will find your answer tehre or at least find something else useful for your technique.
