Molecular weight - (May/13/2008 )

Hi..

i'm noreen..

i've been having a problem to find my protein molecular weight
i want to separate several enzymes from human saliva such as Lactate dehydrogenase, alkaline phosphatase, acid phospatase.

do everybody knows how to find/ any source to find the MW of these enzymes?

www.expasy.ch is usually the first place that I check for any protein-related info (just type the name of the enzyme in the search box), but the amount of info might be a bit daunting - still, you can usually find the enzyme of interest quickly by searching the result page for the correct species (human if it is human saliva you're analyzing) and being careful that you really pick the right enzyme. To limit the number of results, a more detailed search would be a better option:

you can also check the worthington catalog (website):

ldh

acid pase

alkaline pase

you can find others there, as well.

You have to be careful, though, e.g. data for LDH are from beef heart / rabbit muscle. While LDH is probably pretty conserved, it's still not exactly the same.
