Hello all,

Are there magnetic stirr bars apropriate for cell culture (single-use, steril and LPS-free)?

Why would you want to use one? They would probably damage the cells while stirring. I would use a shaking table/incubator to agitate media instead.

don't stir.
shake the media. Much better at air-ating the media.

Dear BioPe,

The best way to grow cells in suspension is using Stirrer bottles.....MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR MAMMALIAN CELL SUSPENSION CULTURE. Advantages:

Reusable borosilicate, Autoclavable bottles....125, 250, 500 and 2000ml available
Fine control of Revolution speed..i.e. reduces shear stress.
Easy to passage......no trypsin required.
Reliable

I use Techne stirrer bottles available from Barloweworld.
