protein refolding from IB.. why done at alkaline pH? - (May/01/2008 )

hii.. why is protein refolding from inclusion bodies.. done at alkaline pH? my protein has a pI of 6.. refolding procedures say the refolding is done in tris buffer,pH 9.. with arginine cysteine cystine.. could someone tell me why this is chosen?
