Help with n-octyl-b-D-glucopyranoside - (Apr/15/2008 )

does anybody know how to get rid of n-octyl-b-D-glucopyranoside from my proteins solution? i want to perform MS analysis, and i`ve got 1% (34.5 mM) detergent... any ideas?

dialysis should get rid of it.

OG micelle is ~25kD

30kD cutoff should get rid of it

Although a tubing with large MWCO would work better in principle, you dont have to use it. Detergents in micelle status are only transiently stable. Micelle, low number agreggates and single molecule coexist at any given moment and lower MW aggregates and signle molecules will diffuse out. We had no problem using membrane with MWCO 12,000.
