abnormal growth of transformed bacteria - (Apr/10/2008 )

hi
my recombinent plasmid has transformed successfully into expression bacterium, and aimed protein could be expressed in a small volume culture, but after expression bacterium grows to certain density, some floss appear in culture, perhaps they are dead bacteria,it is difficult to cultivate to induction phase.
who knows reasons of this.
thank you !

Bad news. You have Phage Infection....very difficult to get rid of. Bleach your flasks overnight and then wash and bake them. Make sure that everything in the lab gets cleaned. Once a lab gets a phage infection it can persist for years.
